The following ceremony was the emblem ceremony, performed only for female recruits the day before graduation. The families were all there.

While in boot camp, we did not wear a patch, nada, with the marine corps emblem on any clothing. at the pinning ceremony, the senior drill instructor pinned us with our EGA (eagle, globe, and anchor) emblem on our covers (hats to you civilians). very moving!
